Campus Manager Opportunity with UniversityTees (Posted 3/29/09)

Securing a full-time position with a reputable, growing company upon graduation is definitely a challenge—students are assembling impressive portfolios throughout their undergraduate years in order to impress potential employers.

Trust us, we know. Only 6 years ago, our company’s founders were students at Miami University trying to decide if they wanted to accept positions with Fortune 500 companies or follow their entrepreneurial spirit and develop the company that they started as sophomores. As you probably guessed, they decided to grow their company, UniversityTees. Now, we are a leader in the custom clothing and promotional industry, specializing in products for student organizations on college campuses.

We are contacting you because UniversityTees is expanding to Maryland’s campus in the 09-10 school year, and we are searching for one or two high-performing, well-connected, energetic students who are interested in becoming a Campus Manager.

We currently have over 55 Campus Managers around the nation, and based on their testimonials, we are confident that UniversityTees provides one of the best marketing and sales experiences that a student can find while still in school, along with a flexible work schedule and superior compensation compared to other part-time campus jobs. (For several student and faculty testimonials please click here.) The Campus Manager role helps students develop and hone the experiences and skills that today’s employers demand: effective time management, capacity to think creatively, and the ability to network and build relationships.

We need your help finding one or two freshman, sophomores, or juniors who would learn from and enjoy the experiences provided by this position. Please forward this email and/or links to students whom you think would be interested or to other faculty who may know good candidates as well. Have the students contact us directly if they want more information or are interested in becoming a Campus Manager.

For more information and an in-depth look into the position, visit our careers page.

If you have additional questions, please call me at the number below.

Thanks and I appreciate your help,

Nancy Wiegand

Freshmen through seniors interested in careers in marketing/P.R./communications/advertising & sports marketing should attend this ANNUAL networking event sponsored by the Baltimore Chapter of the American Marketing Association.   This is NOT a job fair; it is an opportunity to meet and learn from 20 marketing executives from major Baltimore firms—executives that you would normally not have access to—in a personal setting, through panel and small group discussions.

Firms tentatively scheduled to participate include:  Procter & Gamble, T. Rowe Price, Black & Decker, Under Armour, Baseball Factory, WB&A, Imre Communications, Astra Zeneca and more!  Executives will represent all functional areas of marketing—research, communications, marketing management, sales, P.R. and advertising.

At this event, you may meet the executives who could launch your career…!

I attended the AMA workshop during my freshman year.  I was the one of the youngest students there, but this made a strong impression on company executives.  The contacts I made helped me kick start my marketing career.  It is never too early to start networking!

I am currently a student at Princeton University, and I work for a student group called Business Today, the largest student-run publishing organization in the country. Our organization's mission is to create a forum between university students and top business leaders. One of our flagship programs is the Business Today Regional Conference.

I was hoping that you would be kind enough to help us publicize the event with your organization, the American Marketing Association. We just ask that you forward the attached flyer describing the event to students in your organization. Please let students know that they can apply online
here before January 15, 2009.

The conference will feature top executives as both keynote speaker and seminar facilitators. The participants will have an opportunity to interact with and learn from America's top business leaders.

Business Today covers all costs for admitted students, including hotel, food and travel expenses.
Ours is the only completely student-run business conference in the United States, and we would love to see some students from the University of Maryland's American Marketing Association participate this year. MarketBridge is headquartered in Washington DC, with offices in San Francisco, London, Seattle, Toronto and Singapore.

We are looking for seniors who could start in Summer/Fall 2009

Strategy Consulting Business Analysts (akin to the work one would do a larger strategy consultancy, but focused on the Marketing/Sales arena)
Marketing Services Campaign Coordinators
(akin to the types of managed campaigns one might find in the agency world)
Analytics Business Analysts
(heavily qualitative in nature with a large focus on SPSS, SAS, etc.)

The positions are posted on HireSmith, but I am also including the position descriptions in case you would like to share them with your students.

On Monday (9/22) at 5pm we will be conducting a Case Interview Presentation followed by a short corporate overview in the OCM Career Library (Pizza will be served).  As part of our interview process we conduct a case interview and we want to help prepare students for that type of interview (either at MarketBridge or another consulting firm).  There is an RSVP on HireSmith and again it would be great if you could help spread the word to folks you think could benefit from a case study interview coaching workshop.  Please feel free to forward my contact info directly to the students as well.

Going forward, I would welcome the opportunity to discuss if there is any support we can provide to your classes or clubs (e.g., discussing our client work, marketing topics, careers, etc).

I think MarketBridge actually fills a unique niche for our graduating seniors looking to work in the Marketing arena.  I do apologize for the last minute nature of this email and would appreciate any help you can provide as we try to establish a relationship here at Smith (as an alum, I’d love to be able to hire a couple great Smith graduates!)
