Marketing Team

Are you looking for a way to get involved with terpAMA? Well then the Marketing Team is for you! The Marketing Team is in charge of all the grassroots marketing efforts for terpAMA. That means we are in charge of anything that terpAMA tries to inform the student body about.  In other words, this team brings terpAMA’s marketing plans to life!  The team develops creative marketing strategies for each terpAMA event and derives new and innovative ways to spread the terpAMA brand around campus.  The team features 5 rotating leadership positions and the opportunity to get involved with tabling, chalking, and flyering each week.  Members of this team can gain real world experiences in developing and implementing marketing strategies, helping to set them apart to employers.

Whether it is coming up with creative themes for our marketing schemes each week, thinking of new and innovative ways to spread the terpAMA brand around campus, or simply serving as a brand ambassador, the Marketing Team is a great way to gain hands-on experience in marketing.

Community Service Team

The Community Service Team is a group that plans fun and creative ways to integrate marketing into terpAMA fundraising events and community service initiatives

Community Service

The terpAMA Community Service Committee embraces the necessary side of business that gives back to the community. The committee plans and carries out service initiatives that revolve around the theme of marketing. This semester, the Community Service Committee is currently planning two service initiatives.

The first is College 101, a free college application workshop for local Prince George’s county high school students that will be run by college students themselves. Carrying out the event involves heavy advertising to the schools so that enough high school students can take advantage of this opportunity.

The second service initiative is the Branded Messenger Bag Drive. This drive will collect bags from conferences that have outdated brands on them (Ex. Stem Cell Research, Baltimore, MD, Oct. 2009). The committee will collect these bags that cannot be distributed anymore from conferences and local science offices, alongside an on-campus backpack drive. The collected bags will be donated to ASHA for Education, a non-profit organization that will distribute the bags to schoolchildren in India to use as bookbags.

Fundraising

The committee also addresses fundraising for terpAMA. Past and current fundraising events include promoting ticket sales for local bars, holding benefit nights at local restaurants, and working with local companies to advertise their products to the campus community. TerpAMA has an ongoing relationship with University Directories to distribute planners that advertise local businesses. TerpAMA is also working with Campusfood.com. Currently, terpAMA is advertising a discount keycode to UMD students to encourage more students to open Campusfood.com accounts and order food using the website. This relationship with Campusfood.com will most likely grow and continue.
